Arrangements for tomorrow

Good evening everyone

As it stands at the moment, we will do all that we can to open the school tomorrow but will not make a final decision until the morning, when we have fully assessed the situation. We will of course keep you updated.

There will be no clubs tomorrow at all, including Booster to give everyone more time to get in.

As you know tomorrow is World Book Day and I know that the children will be excitied about this but due to it being so cold and costumes are not always the easiest to wear in the snow we have decided to postpone this to a day next week, once the weather is better. The special dinner will still go ahead. Please ensure that the children come to school in school jumpers but they are more than welcome to wear warmer joggers or trousers etc.

Thank you in advance for your support and patience at this difficult time.

Kind regards

Mrs Savidge

Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week continues well despite the snow!

This afternoon

Good afternoon everyone,

Mr Ron and the team have worked hard and there are pathways to all classes and gates, including the back gate which will be open at the end of the day. All children will be leaving through classroom doors as normal.

I know how tempting it is but please do try to stick to pathways that have been cleared, if you choose not to you do so at your own risk.

Thank you in advance for your support. I will keep you as updated as possible on arrangements for tomorrow, should I need to, when I can.

Kind regards
Mrs Savidge

Borough Champions ease through to quarter finals!

Defending champions Clockhouse were back to business yesterday as they took two teams to Scotts Primary School. One game was a cup game, the other a friendly.

The cup game was up first and the champions meant business. In a flying opening three minutes Clockhouse were 7-0 ahead. Ruthless play in the attacking third meant that Clockhouse had the chance to experiment with positions. This will be good practice for next week's Hi 5 Competition. Sadly for Scotts the scoring did not stop there, as the free flowing Clockhouse game play was allowing Clockhouse shooting opportunities throughout the last three quarters.

Credit to Scotts who played with a smile on their faces throughout. Despite the score the game was played in great spirits! Clockhouse really were flawless in their performance. The attack throughout was brutal but credit must also go to the defence who limited the Scotts possession and turned the ball over frequently. Clockhouse advance to the quarter finals.

Mr Yarrow said 'It is really hard to write a report when a team dominate from start to finish playing some lovely netball. I mean where do you start? What do you include? This was a fantastic team performance from the reigning champions. If they can continue playing like this there will be no reason they can not beat everyone! Proud of the performance. Special mention to Scotts, I always enjoy travelling to them they are very welcoming and it is always a fun enjoyable game.'

FINAL SCORE: Scotts 1 - 19 Clockhouse

SQUAD: Beth C  (c), Charlie B, Kayleigh M, Bobby I, Rachel C, Sophie L, & Lily S-E

SCORERS: Lily S-E x 11, Sophie L x 4, Kayleigh M, Beth C x 2, & Bobby I

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Beth C

In our 2nd game of the evening Clockhouse fielded a completely different side and again played against Scotts.

Clockhouse took a little while finding their feet but as the game went on the squad grew in confidence. In defence Grace D, Layla S and Darci L did well to sniff out any attacks from a frantic Scottts front two.

At the other end of the court Ruby N was linking up nicely with the shooters. Katie G giving Clockhouse the lead.

As the game entered the 2nd quarter Clockhouse continued to grow in confidence and began to open up the Scotts defence with some expansive play. Ben C scoring before Katie G got her 2nd to give Clockhouse a 3 - 0 lead at the half.

In the final two quarters Clockhouse pressed home their advantage, defensively limiting Scotts attacking play whilst moving into space to create shooting chances. Katie G added another three baskets to her impressive tally while Ruby N also got on the scoreboard.

Mr Yarrow said '2 games, 2 wins, a great afternoon of netball for Clockhouse. Lots of students playing well and enjoying themselves. What more could you ask for? I was really impressed with the people playing their first game for the school tonight.'

FINAL SCORE: Scotts 0 - 7 Clockhouse

SQUAD: Darci L  (c), Grace D, Layla S, Ruby N, Ben C, & Katie G

SCORERS: Rachel C x 5, Ben C, & Ruby N

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Grace D

Clockhouse recognised by the Youth Sport Trust!

Today Clockhouse received the silver quality mark from the Youth Sport Trust.  The Youth Sport Trust is a British charitable trust which aims to support the education and development of young people through physical education.

The Youth Sport Trust look specifically at what the school offers children in regards to a balanced Physical Education curriculum and how it takes steps to meet the needs of every individual child.

Mr Yarrow said 'This is a fantastic award for Clockhouse! We have been recognised before with the School Games Gold Mark but couple that with this award, that looks deep into the curriculum and what we provide for the children means we must be having a positive effect. It's great to achieve the Silver Quality Mark. To be fast tracked straight through bronze at our first attempt is incredible showing the great work of the school already, and to be told it is minor tweeks needed to achieve a Gold Quality Mark when applications next open is great to hear. I believe there is currently only one school in Havering that have gold. Watch this space!

Thanks to Sharon and the Havering Sports Collective with their help in applying for this recognition.

Clockhouse so close to Leicester

After qualifying from the regional event recently the Clockhouse Girls Football Team took to the field for the Area Finals of the Premier League Stars Tournament. The winners would travel to Leicester City FC to represent West Ham United against schools from the other premiership clubs that were also running similar events across the country.

Clockhouse were up against other regional qualifiers from across the West Ham region. Clockhouse played the best flowing football in their group. First up Clockhouse met St Luke's Primary School and despite dominating the game they fell behind to a soft goal against the run of play which ended up being the only goal. In a repeat of the regional event Clockhouse then met Aveley Primary School and just like last time Clockhouse beat Aveley. First win of the finals 2 -0. Clockhouse then faced St Michael's which ended in a frustrating goalless draw. With the girls needing a win to advance from the group Clockhouse met Brampton School. A late goal saw Clockhouse advance to the semi-final just two games away from the grand final in Leicester.

In the semi-final Clockhouse met Shenfield St Mary's C of E School. The game remained goalless until there was just 17 seconds left to play where a long throw from Shenfield caused problems in the box resulting in a winning goal. This was a shame especially for Kayleigh M in the Clockhouse goal as she had already pulled off some fine saves.

Thank you to Mr McGlinchey who works so so hard with the girls to give them the opportunities to play fantastic stylish football at these such events.

Overall joint 3rd, a fantastic result against some of the best girls teams this end of the country! Mr Yarrow, Mr McGlinchey and the school are proud of the girls efforts!

SQUAD: Kayleigh M, Rameen S, Rachel C, Grace D, Lily S-E, Sophie L  (c), Ruby N, & Emily G

SCORERS: Ruby N, Rachel C, & Sophie L

PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT: Emily G
